Project Management is important on all major renovations or additions (over $25,000).  It provides the homeowner with an independent third party to monitor your builder to be sure no corners are skipped, or inferior materials are used (much more thorough than township inspectors).  And yes, that happens more often then you might think.  The cost of repairs, or to do the job over again, far exceeds that of a project manager.  This is why all commercial projects have project managers.
